Live is where their arena is. Getting people onside is what it’s all about - and Polar Bolero do it with a flair entirely their own. Recent winners of the very first Gerry Anderson Bursary Award at the NI Music Prize 2025, the Derry-rooted band have, since forming in early 2022 as part of a university project at Magee College, carved out a space entirely their own. They are, quite simply, a singular proposition in Irish music right now: a band that folds pop precision, folk storytelling, jazz flair and theatrical sweep into something instinctive and whole, with a sound that feels both completely their own and quietly timeless.
