Recorded entirely to analogue 16-track tape, the album is an intentional step away from digital perfection and back toward the warmth, intimacy, and humanity that define great folk and roots recordings.

California Irish set out to rediscover that lost intersection of folk, country rock, and storytelling that blossomed in the hills of 1960s Los Angeles — a sound born from community, creativity, and collaboration. That scene was a unique nexus of counterculture and expression, where songs were shared experiences and stories were at the heart of everything.

This record carries that spirit forward — recorded live, with all seven musicians feeding off each other’s energy, harmonising around a single microphone. It’s a love letter to authenticity, to craftsmanship and connection, and to the belief that the simplest performances can be the most profound.

The single “Julie Ann” was recently shortlisted for Single of the Year at the Northern Ireland Music Prize, following a public vote, further highlighting the growing connection between the band and audiences.
