Barry Kerr Album Launch - Curlew's Cry

STRICTLY 18+ - BYO

It’s our absolute pleasure to welcome Barry Kerr back to the Duncairn for the launch of his album, Curlew’s Cry. Barry was our first ever musician in residence, and so we feel it’s only fitting that he return to debut his new works with us.

Acclaimed Irish artist and musician Barry Kerr has announced the release of his latest album -Curlew’s Cry– a hauntingly beautiful collection of original and traditional songs inspired by Irish folklore, personal memory, and the natural world.

From the southern shores of Lough Neagh in County Armagh and now living in Connemara, Kerr is one of Ireland’s most accomplished and respected traditional artists. His career has spanned continents and collaborations, and his songwriting has been championed by artists such as Karan Casey, Pauline Scanlon and Cathy Jordan.

In this new release, Barry draws inspiration from the symbolism of the curlew, whose cry in Irish folklore represents sorrow, longing, and the liminal space between worlds. The album reflects deep themes of exile, hope, and reconnection with nature.

“This album has been a long time in the making – not in the sense of studio time, but as an outworking of thoughts and memories, of stories and truths within myself,” says Kerr. “There are common threads and messages running through each song that connect us to place, to community, to the stories that shape us.”

The album was produced by Gerry O’Beirne, recorded by Donogh Hennessy, and mixed and mastered by Brian Masterson. It features a stellar ensemble of musicians including Síle DenvirCathy Jordan, and Pauline Scanlon.
