Putting arts at the heart of North Belfast since 2014, come and see what’s going on in Belfast’s Cultural Quarter!
From the 17th – 23rd March, we are taking part in Big Give’s Arts for Impact campaign. This campaign aims to raise funds for creative organisations who have a strong social impact within their communities.
We have been hosting Super Sunday Sessions since 2018, a free family friendly event open to the whole community to enjoy live music in a relaxed child friendly setting. Super Sunday Sessions started as a monthly event, born out of the belief that everyone, young, old, from every background, should have access to the arts.
Due to significant funding cuts, these very special events have been reduced to three or four a year – and by participating in Arts for Impact Big Give Campaign, we hope to programme six Super Sunday Sessions in 2026.
Through this campaign, every donation made by the public will be doubled! Double the donations means double the impact. Through this campaign, we can continue to support artists, families and the wider community through one of our most loved events.
Super Sunday Session was borne out of the desire to open The Duncairn to the local community – to give space for people to come together, enjoy music and arts in a relaxed and non-intimidating atmosphere, and spend quality time with friends and family. The event is completely free to guarantee access and inclusion to everyone who wishes to join. This funding will help us spread the word even further in our communities, to increase and enrich attendance and everyone’s experience.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
Please spread the word from 17 - 24 March 2026, directing to this page or share our Big Give posts on our on Facebook and Instagram pages. Thank you!
Campaign Aims:
1. To give people access to a safe, shared space. Currently the Duncairn centre cannot open on weekends for the local community, unless for evening concerts that are 18+ - Super Sunday Sessions allow us to open the building on a Sunday to provide a safe, shared space for all members of the community.
2. To provide the opportunity to engage with the arts in a friendly, welcoming manner. Free arts and crafts workshops encourage participation in creative activities for young people, whilst top-class musicians from around the world perform for free for people of all ages.
3. To remove barriers to participation. While participation and attendance are completely free, we must work hard to remove physical and psychological barriers to attending Super Sundays. This funding will enable us to work in partnership with other organisations to increase engagement for the most marginalised members of our community.
Impact
Super Sunday Sessions benefit a wide range of attendees and bring about positive impacts on many levels.
On Artists: Increased exposure, increased income and financial security, sense of connection with local community.
On the Community: increased engagement, community building, social connection, improved wellbeing.
On the Duncairn: Increased ability to support more artists and audiences to engage with each other and the centre.
