Two fresh, fascinating talents for tonight’s Fifty. Wicklow musician, songwriter and composer, Anna Mieke composes and performs on guitar and bouzouki, and uses cello and piano in other projects. Presently working on her debut album, her travels have strongly influenced her music, but traditional Irish such as Sean-nós singing and fiddle have been a focus as well. She’ll share the evening with the Dublin-based trio Alfi who at just one year old have plans for releasing their first EP. With an unusual line-up of harp, five-string banjo, uilleann pipes, whistles and vocals, you’ll hear how Alfi’s sound combines American old-time and traditional Irish music and song.
