“You want your support to be good…but not this good!”
MARK KERMODE - THE DODGE BROTHERS / BBC
“Villiers and The Villains conjure the frantic, dirty blues sounds of the 60’s Reeperbahn. Other more tender moments drip with an ‘Astral Weeks’ like sweet cherry wine.”
FOLK & TUMBLE
“Dylan and The Band in The Big Pink basement, after several bottles of red”
TREVOR HODGETT - R2 MAGAZINE
With an original and unique sound carved from the music of legends like The Band, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Muddy Waters and Hank Williams, Villiers and The Villains have been creating a buzz with their songs and their sound.
Tony Villiers heads up this lean-mean-barroom-band featuring Doc Doherty on electric guitar, Aidan McGillion on drums and Kevin Mahoney on bass. They’ve received a slew of reviews including R2 Magazine’s Trevor Hodgett comparing their sound to “Dylan and The Band in The Big Pink basement after several bottles of red” and high praise from the BBC’s Mark Kermode and Ralph McLean.
Lyrically and musically their songs have been drawing attention, and this, combined with an authentic sound and thrilling live show, has steadily built Villiers and The Villains a loyal following.
The band launch their new album ‘Music Confounds The Machines’ at The Duncairn, Belfast on Saturday 23rd June. Recorded and mixed in analog at Take Six Studios and backed by The Arts Council NI, the new LP contains 14 brand new original songs.
