Sisters Natalie and Freda McCoy were born in Belfast and spent part of their lives in the Rosapena area in the north of the city. Both sisters were invited to study at Belfast College of Art. Freda accepted this opportunity and graduated to pursue a career in teaching whilst Natalie pursued nursing, though still indulging her interest in the arts. This exhibition is a celebration of two north Belfast girls and how art has played a huge and positive role in their lives. Sadly, Freda died of Motor Neurone Disease, in August 2016. One of the great compliments paid to her was to be likened to one of her heroes: the inspirational Belfast woman Gladys McCabe. Natalie still lives in north Belfast and is as passionate about the arts as ever.
