An Introduction to Fashion Design

  • The Duncairn Duncairn Avenue Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT14 6BP United Kingdom (map)

Mondays 6.30-8.30pm
10 week course
£50.00 full rate + £40.00 concession rate
Taught by: Chloe Dougan

This 10 week course explores from how to use your sewing machine to making your very own garment! The class is for beginners, learning in a relaxed and informal environment, and we provide the sewing machines and all sewing equipment. (Feel free to use your own one though!) In the first few classes we will explore the sewing machine, how to thread it, sew a bobbin and sew some basic stitches. We will then learn how to read and use a paper pattern, understand sewing terminology and cut out our own patterns. Next we will begin our garment toiles (a rough version of our finished piece). Here we can practice our sewing skills and make any mistakes before we make our final garment! Next, we finally begin to cut out and sew our final garment, using all the techniques and new sewing knowledge we have gathered in previous classes. There will be sewing challenges and fun activities along the way!
