WOW!!! It's our Christmas party and it's gonna be a real cracker!!! Alan Doherty, Pauline Scanlon, Tola Custy and Donogh Hennesy will round off the year with a barnstorming concert along with special guests Ye Vagabonds. Specially commissioned by The Duncairn Arts Centre, this collaborative evening comprises four world class musicians who have all performed at the centre previously, however, this is the first time they will have performed together in north Belfast. The line-up is: Alan Doherty from Dublin on Flute and vocals, Tola Custy from County Clare on Fiddle, West Kerry based guitarist Donogh Hennessy and Dingle native Pauline Scanlon on vocals. Having been associated with some of the brightest and biggest stars in contemporary Irish folk, including Lúnasa, Aldoc, Sharon Shannon, Lumiere and Guidewires, this concert promises improvised, traditional and self-penned tunes, arresting vocals and driving accompaniment. Expect humour, groove, soul and a little (or a lot) of the unexpected! You couldn't beat this with a big stick!!
We’re huge fans of Ye Vagabonds and are delighted to welcome them back for what promises to be an unforgettable night. With their debut self-titled album released back in October to much acclaim, the lads have been busy touring the material even performing recently in Sydney for the Irish President, Michael D. Higgins. Bring your ears for harmony-rich folk music, influenced by Irish traditional music, Appalachian singing, and the 1960's folk revival on Saturday 9th December.
Ages 16 and up only. Patrons aged 16 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult. No admittance for patrons under 16.
