"An album so intimate, so up-close you could be in the room with it. Beautiful." - Sunday Times (Album of the Week)
To say that we are thrilled to welcome Lisa Hannigan to The Duncairn is as much of an understatement as you are likely to hear. We are especially delighted that Lisa has agreed to do two performances. Lisa will be performing two very special and intimate concerts in the beautiful Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts on Saturday 4th November. First, a 3:30pm all ages matinee show, followed by an 8:30pm over 18's only event.
Lisa Hannigan first came to light as an angel-voiced, somewhat mysterious figure singing harmonies alongside Damien Rice. They played together for seven years, but it wasn't until the release of her solo debut 'Sea Sew' in 2008 that the full spectrum of her abilities became apparent. A joyous kaleidoscope of love songs, laments, sea shanties and glockenspiels, with a cover hand-stitched by Lisa herself, the self-released album was a runaway success, nominated for a Choice award in Ireland and a Mercury Music Prize in the UK. The ecstatic reception gave her the confidence to explore deeper, darker emotions.
'At Swim' is Lisa's Hannigan's critically acclaimed third album, released through Play It Again Sam. Produced by Aaron Dessner, the album entered the UK Charts at No. 24, giving Lisa her highest charting album to date in the UK, whilst in Ireland, Hannigan repeated the success of her second album 'Passenger' by scoring her second Irish No. 1. It's also been announced that 'At Swim' is shortlisted for the 2017 Irish Choice Music Prize — earning Hannigan her third nomination in a row.
